On a rainy weekend afternoon in 1999, Rusty Collins saw what he thought was a great product and business opportunity while watching an episode of This Old House.

 

             Rusty had many years of experience in the HVAC business, and was immediately impressed by the benefits that The Icynene Insulation System® offered to homeowners and commercial building owners. He saw that the unique composition and performance of the product made it possible for a builder to construct a new building that was healthier, quieter and more energy-efficient, and it could be used to replace old and far less efficient insulation in existing buildings.

             Rusty became happy about that short television segment,

and was on the phone with Icynene the very first thing on Monday

morning and became totally sold when he learned the roster of

other high-profile building projects that Icynene participated in.

 

             Just to name a few the list that peaked Mr. Collins attention

was The American Lung Association’s  Health House®, 

Habitat for Humanity, The New American Home®, Model

reModel and Bob Vila’s “dotcom dreamHOME.”

 

             And so, “Southern Foam & Coating” was formed in

Claxton, GA to join the Icynene Licensed Dealer Network, under

the ownership of partners Lee Burkhalter and Rusty Collins.

 

 

             Though the inception is history Southern Foam & Coating currently has five spray rigs and one fire proofing rig that are constantly on the road, serving customers in specific areas within the four states of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. The company has grown to more than 25 employees and including our field sales representative and several three-man crews that are made up of factory trained “Application Specialists.”

 

             Their goal is to contact any inquiry within 24 hours to explain the “The Icynene Insulation System®”.  The company’s field representatives spend most of their time on job sites consulting with builders, architects and owners.

 

             The entire field staff at SF&C is made up of top-notch professionals, and mostly because of their hard work Southern Foam & Coating has been named to the Icynene® Gold Circle every year since the prestigious group of top dealers was created. Icynene® Gold Circle is awarded to a small group of the top companies from the more than 300 in the Icynene licensed dealer network. SF&C is proud to be chosen as one of the top three dealers in the united states for the past four years conseculatively.
